THE OPPORTUNITY

The Global Extensions team at Avenues: The World School is looking for motivated individuals to join our diverse and energetic After School team. This role requires meaningful and engaging supervision in congruence with managing COVID-19 safety protocols. After School Teaching Associates will have the opportunity to build rapport with a diverse group of students, hone their classroom management skills, teach and reinforce student hygiene policies, and lead fun activities for students in multiple age groups. Teaching Associates should be flexible and have experience working with children and families.

Our After School program, Private Care, is designed to hold a safe and engaging care opportunity with small groups of students in nursery through grade five. Private Care offers care beyond the regular school day with the highest degree of health and safety in mind. During Private Care, students will have a healthy snack upon arrival and the opportunity to engage in various games and activities or homework under the supervision of our After School Teaching Associates.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

This is a great opportunity for educators and child care practitioners to hone classroom management skills, build rapport with students and fine tune activity planning abilities. Specifically, you will: 

 

Create a safe and enjoyable student experience by

Facilitating play-based lessons that engage all learners in meaningful enrichment programming. 

Reinforcing COVID practices.

Build a classroom community by

Selecting and organizing supplies for effective student engagement.

Building rapport with students and responding to their individual needs.

Collaborate and communicate with the Avenues community by

Identifying and sharing opportunities to improve student learning and school culture.

Creating a smooth transition from school to Private Care.

 

After School Teaching Associates will need to be on campus from 2:30pm - 6:00pm.

 

WHAT YOU BRING

1. Self-motivated with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
2. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work collaboratively and independently
3. Previous experience in child care settings, preferably early childhood or elementary school
4. Efficient multi-tasker
5. Enthusiasm to work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds
