Financial Aid
Avenues seeks to build a student body that reflects the diversity of each community it serves. As our mission states, we aim to be, “humble about [our] gifts and generous of spirit.” In addition to the work done by our students, staff and parents through Avenues community engagement initiatives, our financial assistance program is one more manifestation of that commitment.
At Avenues Shenzhen, financial aid is available for grades nursery and above. We encourage you to consider Avenues even if you cannot afford the full cost of tuition, as financial aid may be available. Our team is committed to helping you navigate this process.
The primary responsibility for tuition rests with the family, and each family is expected to fully utilize its own resources before requesting financial aid. Avenues recognizes the uniqueness of each situation and tailors aid packages to meet the demonstrated needs of each qualified family.
A few things to keep in mind
- We realize that the cost of tuition is well beyond the financial reach of many families. For those who demonstrate financial need, Avenues offers a comprehensive program of financial aid.
- Even if you think you don’t qualify for financial aid, please talk to us. We want to partner with you as you think through the options available to make an Avenues education a reality for your family.
- Financial aid is not awarded as a merit-based scholarship. This means that your child’s academic performance does not affect your eligibility for financial aid. Awards are based solely on the family’s financial profile.

Financial aid FAQ
Is financial aid available for all grades?
At Avenues Shenzhen, financial aid is currently available for grades nursery and above.
How is financial need assessed? Is there an income cutoff?
Many factors are taken into account when determining a family’s financial need, including, but not limited to, the number of children in a family and how many of them attend tuition-based schools; additional dependents; all sources of income, assets and liabilities; expenses such as mortgage or rent, automobiles, camps and lessons and unreimbursed medical expenses. Since each family’s situation is evaluated individually, there is no specific income cutoff.
Is financial aid renewed each year?
Families must reapply for aid each year by submitting current forms and supporting documents. If a family’s financial situation remains similar from one year to the next, Avenues will continue to grant similar aid. Each student receiving financial aid must remain in good academic standing to qualify for continued aid.
Is financial aid available to all qualified families?
All families that believe they can demonstrate financial need are eligible to apply. Students attending Small World are not eligible for financial aid. Requests for financial aid may exceed resources available to provide financial aid. Avenues reserves the right for financial aid awards to reflect the enrollment priorities of the school (e.g. gender balance, class size, socioeconomic diversity).
When and how should an application for financial aid be made?
To apply for financial aid, you must indicate your intention by making a selection on the admission application. Families must submit all required financial aid forms and provide all supporting documents to complete their financial aid application.
Families that have already started their admissions application should contact the admissions team at financialaid-sz@avenueschina.cn to announce their intention to apply for financial aid
What types of financial disclosure are required as part of the financial aid application?
The standard document requests are your most recent personal and business income tax returns, three months of pay stubs, three months of statements from all bank and investment accounts and a recent Result of Inquiry on Real Estate Information.
Do financial awards have to be repaid?
No. Financial aid is provided as grants that do not have to be repaid.
If parents are divorced, separated or never married, who must submit financial information?
It is the responsibility of parents to pay for the educational expenses of their children to the extent they are able. In assessing need, Avenues will take into account the assets and obligations of both parents and will not be bound by separation or divorce agreements or by the assertion that one parent is unwilling to pay. Therefore, both parents must submit the required disclosures. It is the responsibility of the custodial parent to ask the noncustodial parent to complete and submit all forms. Both parents must also submit tax returns.
If a student is enrolled without financial aid, may the family request financial aid the following year?
A student who was admitted without financial aid and has been enrolled less than two years is not eligible for financial aid until their third year of attendance.
