THE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM 

Our Residential Program is a cornerstone of the holistic Avenues experience for our community. Designed as a true "home away from home," the program fosters a safe, supportive, and vibrant living-learning community. We integrate wellbeing, personal growth, and academic support into the daily rhythm of residential life, ensuring students feel known, cared for, and empowered to thrive. 


WHAT YOU'LL DO 

The Residential Program, Associate is a hands-on, student-facing role essential to the daily operations and positive culture of our boarding community. Reporting to the Dean, Residential Program, you will be a primary point of contact and support for our boarding students, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and engagement. 

  • Support Daily Residential Operations: Assist in the smooth running of the dormitory, including student supervision, evening routines, weekend activities, winter/summer camps and adherence to safety and community standards. 
  • Foster a Positive & Inclusive Community: Actively build strong, trusting relationships with boarding students. Plan with Dean, Residential Program and help execute engaging evening and weekend programs that promote connection, fun, and personal growth. 
  • Uphold Safety & Wellbeing: Be a vigilant and caring presence, conducting room checks, managing student sign-in/out procedures, and following all health, safety, and safeguarding protocols. Provide initial response and support for student concerns, escalating to the Dean as needed. 
  • Collaborate with the Wellbeing Team: Work closely with the Dean, Residential Program and the broader Student Wellbeing Team to ensure a consistent and supportive environment for all students. Communicate effectively about student progress and any arising needs. 
  • Support Student Development: Guide students in developing independence, self-management, responsibility, and respectful communal living skills through daily interactions and mentorship. 
  • Step in and back up the Dean, Residential Program in daily duties and supervision as needed. 
  • Participate actively in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional learning related to residential life and student support. 
  • Working hour: This role includes afternoon, evening, and weekend hours, with specific schedules set by the Dean, Residential Program.

  • Experience in a residential life, student affairs, youth mentoring, or educational support role. 
  • Profound commitment to nurturing the wellbeing, safety, and holistic development of adolescents. 
  • Highly effective collaborator, eager to listen deeply, contribute to a close-knit team, and achieve goals together. 
  • Enthusiastically seeks opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to an innovative and mission-driven living community. 
  • Very resourceful and adaptive, eager to embrace the dynamic nature of residential life with positivity and resilience. 
  • Bachelor's degree; a degree or background in education, psychology, social work, or a related field is ideal. 
  • Native Chinese speaker with professional fluency in English.
