What You'll Do

The Manager, Talent leads end-to-end recruitment for academic roles and builds strong early experiences for new hires, from offer acceptance through onboarding. The role combines strategic project management of annual recruiting cycles with hands-on recruiting operations and the design of compelling pre-onboarding and onboarding journeys.

This role reports to the Director of People, Culture and Digital and is part of the People and Culture team, collaborating closely with academic leadership and other functional leaders across the campus.

 

Talent Acquisition – Academic Roles and Key Staff (70- 80%)

  • Own and project manage the annual academic recruitment cycle, including timeline design, stakeholder alignment, and progress tracking to meet hiring targets.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with hiring managers and academic leaders, acting as a thought partner on talent needs and market realities.
  • Lead hiring teams (academic leadership and other interviewers) to drive timely decisions, offering guidance on process, candidate assessment, and selection quality.
  • Source strong and diverse candidate pipelines using multiple channels (job boards, social media, talent communities, agencies, referrals etc.).
  • Manage all recruiting channels and campaigns, monitoring effectiveness and iterating to improve quality and speed of hire.
  • Coordinate and perform hands-on recruiting operations, including job req management, posting roles, partnership contracts and payments, offer coordination and other support needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate data within the ATS and ensure a smooth, professional candidate experience at every touchpoint.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce plans, refine role profiles, and ensure role clarity and alignment before launching searches.
  • Use data and dashboards to report on pipeline health, time to fill, and other key recruiting metrics, offering insights and recommendations.

Talent Development – New Hire Experience and Onboarding (20%-30%)

  • Design and manage pre-onboarding and matriculation experiences that welcome and connect new hires to Avenues' mission, culture, and community before their first day.
  • Collect feedback from new hires and managers on their early experiences and use insights to refine and evolve the new hire journey.
  • Support additional talent development initiatives (for example, internal mobility processes, learning and development sessions, mentorship and coaching programs etc.) as agreed.
  • Contribute to People and Culture projects and process improvements that elevate the overall colleague experience.

 

What You'll Bring

  • Significant experience (for example, 5–8+ years) in recruitment or talent acquisition, ideally including academic, education, or professional services roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead recruiting projects end-to-end: from planning and sourcing through selection, offer, and onboarding.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to set clear plans, track progress, anticipate risks, and drive for outcomes.
  • Genuine interest in people, learning, and education; comfortable engaging with educators and staff at all levels.
  • High learning agility and curiosity, with a habit of reflecting, seeking feedback; Collaborative, low-ego working style combined with strong drive for results
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in working with diverse stakeholders at different seniority levels.
  • Chinese native speaker with strong English proficiency, able to operate comfortably in a bilingual environment and represent Avenues to candidates from different backgrounds.
