PRIMARY DIVISION

Our Primary Division (G1-5) integrates the rich academic content of China's compulsory education with Avenues' innovative global curriculum, yielding a world-class educational experience that is at once global in scale and local in focus.

 

Our curriculum is guided by Avenues World Elements (AWE), a globally consistent framework that spans all Avenues campuses. AWE serves as a powerful tool for interdisciplinary teaching and learning, empowering teachers and students to explore complex, real-world challenges while nurturing the qualities of future leaders to solve the worldwide problems.

 

  • Language immersion in English and Mandarin

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Collaborate closely with homeroom teachers to monitor student progress, align on learning goals, and inform instructional planning for Chinese language support.
  • Provide Chinese language instruction through both pull-out and push-in models, including teaching Chinese as an additional language, Chinese literacy, and delivering targeted, evidence-based remediation to individuals or small groups.
  • Step in and back up any teaching activities when needed, ensuring continuity of student learning.
  • Help build a joyful yet rigorous learning atmosphere where students feel part of a supportive and engaging community.
  • Support students’ maturation and overall wellbeing, attending carefully to their individual developmental and emotional needs.
  • Inspire trust and confidence among parents and families through regular, positive communication.
  • Actively participate in ongoing, intensive professional learning, including coaching and feedback sessions.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Experience working with students in Grades 1-5.
  • Basic understanding of Chinese language development, with the ability to target specific support to students at different levels, including both native speakers and learners of Chinese as an additional language.
  • Ability to help develop students into curious, confident, and skillful readers and writers in Chinese through engaging and meaningful activities.
  • Profound commitment to nurturing children's wellbeing and creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.
  • Highly effective collaborator, eager to listen deeply, contribute to a team, and achieve shared goals together.
  • Dedication to learning and continuously developing the craft of teaching, with openness to frequent feedback and coaching.
  • Very resourceful and adaptive, eager to embrace constant change, growth, and learning.
  • Bachelor's degree; graduate degree in education or a related field is ideal.
  • Native-level Chinese speaker with professional fluency in English.
